ABOUT

Over the past few years, we had all met at Orangetheory Fitness in Canton, Oh. We became fast friends, and learned our shared interest for all things horror related...except for Jena who hates all things horror related. So we knew we wanted to create a podcast about horror movies, but what was going to make it unique and true to us?

That's when we came up with the idea to watch and discuss movies that have been adapted from some other form, whether it be a remake from a classic, an adaption from a novel, or a retelling of a true story.

With Jena as our scaredy cat, we wanted to dig a little deeper into the psychology behind our fears and what specifically about the horror movie scared us and why?

We are constantly making each other laugh, as well as making each other think deeper about our points of views, which is why we have such a good time conversing.

We release new episodes every Friday. Check us out on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

I have an MFA in Creative Writing, am a Lecturer at the University of Akron, and am Lead Fiction Editor for the Black Fork Review.

I love reading, writing, and anything horror, so of course I created a podcast that incorporates all three!

My favorite type of horror movies are monster and slasher movies, especially the Friday the 13th franchise. I even have a 13 tattoo on my arm to commemorate the superstition.

Movies that scare me the most are exorcism movies, like The Exorcism of Emily Rose, but of course I still watch them!

I have a BS in Fashion Merchandising from Kent State University and am a Fashion Stylist with Stitch Fix.

I enjoy reading, tending my vegetable garden, playing animal crossing & of course, watching horror movies and tv series.

My favorite genre of horror movies is indie horror. I love the vibe of indie horror films like It Follows, the Ritual, the Babadook and anything by Ari Aster. I also LOVE the monster creations by Guillermo Del Toro.

The movies that scare me the most are supernatural films that involve body horror (think unhinging jaws and spider crawling). The Grudge series still terrifies me to this day.

My name is Jenalee but am more commonly known as Jena. I graduated from Kent State with a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and moved to North Canton last year to work as a Spanish Interpreter at Dover High School.

I am now a coach at Orangetheory Fitness and love all things that involve outdoors, specifically bears and sharks.

I hate horror movies. There is nothing more to say.

This podcast will hopefully do away with my insane fear of horror movies, but stay tuned, because I doubt that will happen.
